What Does Noom Do? | The Science Behind Noom

The Noom app uses a behavioral approach to weight loss by not only providing you with information about what and how to eat but training you to change your habits over the long term. The Annals of Internal Medicine[1] suggested that a behavioral approach is highly effective for weight loss. The Noom food lists, meal plans, and recipes provide you with valuable tools, and the coaching and virtual group reinforces it and gives you support.

In terms of weight loss, the approach is to create a calorie deficit. This is a common technique that is known to be effective. An article by the Mayo Clinic discussed the calorie deficit diet and how to implement it to lose weight.

The tracking helps make you more aware of your weight, eating, and lifestyle habits and there’s evidence that it can have a significant impact on weight loss.

The Noom is an app designed to help you change your eating and health habits for the long run and to lose weight. We hope the program has helped you to meet some of your goals and upgrade your nutrition. If you want to lose weight even faster, here are some lifestyle tips to enhance your progress:

  • Make sure you get an adequate amount of sleep every night. Poor sleep may contribute to weight gain.
  • Eat a high protein breakfast, as it will help to keep you full so you eat less throughout the day.
  • Eat your meal at a leisurely pace. Your brain takes time to register the food, so if you eat too rapidly you could end up consuming too much.
  • Drink water before you eat. This can help fill you up, so you eat a smaller portion.

'custom' exercise plan is Not Custom!

Before I gave Noom my credit card, I asked Noom support if I could get a customized exercise plan for me, a wheelchair user. They said yes, but it was a big lie.

The exercises involved running, planking and many other things that I can’t do. The exercises were the same thing for everyone, not considering my disability. Noom lies to everyone.

Terrible company, run away. Doesn't work and total scam.

This company is such a scam. Do not fall victim to this company that only cares about money and preys on vulnerable humans that desire to lose weight.

They auto charge even though the service had been cancelled months before but without proof, they refuse to refund.

This company is a joke and doesn’t work. They should be ashamed of themselves. Formal complaint to the BBB has been written as well.
