How Does It Work? | The Science Behind Magtein
One of the main ingredients is magnesium, which plays an important role in relaying messages from receptors to brain cells. These receptors are crucial in memory and learning, and they help develop new cells. An article in Nature discussed the potential brain-boosting effects of magnesium (7).
Other ingredients can increase levels of key brain neurotransmitters involved in memory and learning like dopamine, serotonin, acetylcholine, and others. They may also lift your mood and help lower stress. An article in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience looked at the role of acetylcholine in cognitive function (8).
This product contains powerful antioxidants which can destroy free radicals and decrease oxidative stress. This helps repair damage to the brain and protect it from harm. In addition, they make the immune system stronger.
Magtein Ingredients – What to Look For?
These are some of the primary active ingredients in Magtein:
Magnesium Threonate – This is a form of magnesium after it has been synthesized, made by a team of MIT researchers. There’s evidence that it can enhance cognitive ability and memory, as well as slow brain aging (1). It also improves the absorption of magnesium. A study in Neuron concluded that elevating levels of brain magnesium in rodents led to enhancements in learning and memory (2).
Taurine – This is an amino acid which exists abundantly in the body, but it’s levels diminish with age. It’s important in cell development and nutrition, stimulating new cell growth, and forming connections between them (3). An article in Bioactive Nutraceuticals and Dietary Supplements in Neurological and Brain Disease looked at the effects of taurine exposure on the brain and neurological disorders (4).
Vitamin C – This is a potent antioxidant which can repair damage to the brain and protect it from harm. It can increase levels of a number of brain neurotransmitters related to learning, memory, and mood (5) An article in Free Radicals in Biological Medicine explored the function of Vitamin C in the brain (6).

I'm disappointed with Magtein
I’m a big fan of magnesium supplements but Magtein magnesium l-threonate gave me horrible insomnia. I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t able to sleep more than 4 hours at night. I read some of the Magtein reviews online and it increased anxiety so I didn’t take it last night and I slept for 6 hours. I’m returning this product ASAP.
