Who Makes Celsius?

Celsius was first introduced as a diet-focused health drink in 2004 by the former chairman of GNC, Greg Horn. The product was considered a “drinkable thermogenic”, and it was initially called “MetaPlus” (metabolism plus). Later on, while their first items were not attracting much attention, the company launched its first-ever energy drink to draw success.

Some might say the re-branding of Celsius from diet drinks to energy drinks was their best decision, and they continued that road to gain popularity among energy drink lovers very fast. They used glass bottle packaging at first, yet after the completion of their presumably clinical study, by 2007, they started selling Celsius drinks in 12-ounce cans and added more flavors and varieties.

How Do Celsius Fitness Drinks Work?

Celsius drinks contain MetaPlus formula, a proprietary blend made of several ingredients. According to the manufacturer, this mixture of green tea, EGCG, caffeine, guarana seed extract, taurine, ginger root extract, etc. can activate thermogenesis[ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7215895/] to accelerate metabolism and enhance the fat-burning process.

The ultimate aim is to boost metabolic rate, which can result in losing weight and feeling more energetic. Each ingredient has been independently researched for weight-loss properties and is usually typical in other energy drinks; Taurine and guarana are particular.

Celsius Fitness Drinks Ingredients – The Evidence

Celsius’s marketing strategy has been to promote their MetaPlus formula as a powerful and unique secret for health and fitness; however, the fact that they have not specified the dosage of ingredients in their product is a concern. Because the benefits are directly connected to the dosage, there is no way to know for sure that even the amount is enough for effectiveness.

Celsius MetaPlus formula (1.81 grams in total) contains:

200 mg of caffeine, Taurine, Guarana extract, Glucuronolactone, Ginger extract, Green tea leaf extract, and EGCG.

Green Tea[2]

Green tea is an excellent source of antioxidants and has many health benefits. This extract has been prepared through steaming instead of fermentation[3] and is a better choice than black and oolong tea for anybody who desires weight loss and manageable blood sugar. Studies show green tea extract, high in catechins, can reduce body weight and cholesterol levels.

Guarana[4]

Guarana, a climbing plant native to the Amazon basin and Brazil, with large leaves and clusters of flowers, has shown effective as a weight control ingredient. A study showed that even when subjects have a high-fat diet, an increase in metabolism and mitochondrial biogenesis controlled the weight gain. Guarana supplementation has been confirmed to reduce obesity and resistance via brown adipose tissue activation.[5]

Ginger Root[6]

Different human and animal studies concentrate on ginger’s impact on weight loss, blood sugar levels, and insulin resistance[7] [8]. A study showed how ginger extract could ameliorate obesity and inflammation.

Chromium

Chromium is an essential trace mineral that many supplements add to their list of ingredients. Scientific research suggests it controls blood sugar and may be responsible for reducing myocellular lipids plus enhancing insulin sensitivity.[9] [10]
It is also directly involved in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism[11].

Taurine

Taurine is an organic compound (aka amino sulfonic acid) usually found in animal tissues. A randomized clinical trial found that taurine supplementation makes a weight-loss diet more effective, especially in obese women.

Caffeine

Several studies provided evidence of caffeine’s effect on weight loss[12]. In that regard, Celsius advertises based on the claim that caffeine promotes weight loss via thermogenesis and fat oxidation. However, based on a controlled trial, energy drink doses of caffeine and taurine have a null or negative effect on sprint performance and seemed to induce even greater fatigue within selected sprints.[13]

Sintia says: “I had a long-lasting energy boost, and unlike other high caffeinated beverages, this one works tremendously. I enjoyed all their flavors and loved the Sparkling Cola.

Victoria “I Take it with me wherever I go and drink it all the time, such an enjoyable taste, I usually drink it twice a day, super affordable and even my family love this stuff.

Melisa, says: “my husband drank one can, and we were at the local Emergency Dept an hour later. He is a frequent coffee drinker, and it was a shock that he had to be hooked to a heart monitor for a caffeine overdose. Our doctor told us to stay away from these drinks, and he had to admit 2-3 similar cases in the last month alone.”

Lydia “Celsius drinks are wonderful, I’m not saying they do miracles, you still have to work hard and stay on a diet, but for me, they were wonderful and helped me get into shape”.

Mike “I’m used to all types of energy drinks because of my late night shifts. I had half of this drink, and my heartbeat skyrocketed; I almost passed out. It seems the vitamin levels of these cans are high and can be very bad for someone sensitive, so use them with extreme caution.

Celsius Fitness Drinks perfect for those who are trying to lose weight

I tried Celsius fitness drinks and I can say that they are delicious and refreshing and they do not taste like medicine. Plus, they are packed with vitamins and minerals and they feel great while being active. They do not give you the same energy as caffeine, but they do not make you jittery or cause any crash when the effect wears off. They are perfect for those who are trying to lose weight and who are not getting a lot of time for eating a healthy diet and consuming the essential nutrients your body needs.

I dislike the flavor of Celsius Fitness Drinks

Celsius BCAA doesn’t have the kick and it’s a lot to drink, so you’ll feel full afterward. After that, I tried Celsius STEVIA. It has a horrible smell; I don’t think the individuals who make these beverages truly taste them! The taste of heat Celsius was terrible. It tastes medicinal. This product does not have any baby tastes. This product will not be recommended to anyone.
