How Does CalmiGo Work?

When you’re feeling anxiety, your sympathetic nervous system kicks in and puts you in ‘fight or flight’ mode. As your body prepares for one of these options, your heart speeds up, and you may feel dizziness or shortness of breath. Harvard Health Publishing explored the stress response. [1]

CalmiGo uses three primary techniques to reduce anxiety: exhalation prolongation, aromatherapy, and multi-sensory stimulation. Exhalation prolongation is extended expiratory breathing, which stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system.

It’s in charge of your body’s ability to relax and rest, so it reduces anxiety. Aromatherapy helps to lessen anxiety because it stimulates the limbic system in your brain, which plays a role in emotions, memory, and learning. A study in Nephro-Urology Monthly confirmed that aromatherapy can induce relaxation. [2]

The purpose of multi-sensory stimulation is to activate your senses in a pleasurable way. We know that sensory deprivation can exacerbate depression and anxiety, so this aims to curtail that.

CalmiGo Ingredients

CalmiGo is a drug-free device, but it does use aromatherapy. These are the primary active CalmiGo ingredients.

Lavender – This is one of the most popular scents used in aromatherapy. It has a very calming odor which relaxes, decreases anxiety, and may improve mood.

It’s said to help with moderate to severe anxiety symptoms. An article in the Mental Health Clinician discussed the role of lavender in anxiety disorders. [3]

Bergamot – This essential oil comes from cells in the rind of the Bergamot orange. It’s also an anti-anxiety scent which can promote great calm and relaxation. In addition, it’s a mood-booster which can decrease depression.

A study in Phytotherapy Research found that inhalation of bergamot improved positive feelings in the waiting room of a mental health treatment center. [4]

Peppermint – Peppermint in aromatherapy can help decrease stress and anxiety, as well as other medical conditions like asthma, bronchitis, fatigue, and headaches.

A study in Avicenna Journal of Phytomedicine concluded that peppermint essential oil improved physiological parameters and exercise performance. [5]

    Disappointed with CalmiGo Reviews.

Didn’t work out as expected. I really wanted to love the CalmiGo device but did not work for me. Overpriced lavender. Returned it and had to pay return shipping. Hopefully, I see the CalmiGo device refund come through soon.
